Mong-Lan

For over 20 years, Mong-Lan has danced, performed and taught tango in Buenos Aires, the U.S. (including San Francisco, NYC, Houston), in Asia (Tokyo, Bangkok) and in Italy. Her teaching philosophy and methods emphasize connection, musicality and improvisation.

Mong-Lan began dancing Argentine tango in 1985. She also has a background in classical ballet, jazz, contemporary dance and flamenco.
She was a finalist with her partner in Salon Tango, in the Milongueros del Mundo category of the Buenos Aires City-wide Tango Championship in 2011.

Also a writer, musician, visual artist, and performer, Mong-Lan was a Stegner Fellow at Stanford University and a Fulbright Scholar. She has published six books of poetry & artwork and two chapbooks. Her nine albums of jazz piano and tangos also showcase her poetry. Her artwork has been exhibited at the Dallas Museum of Art and abroad. Mong-Lan’s new show, “Ocean of Senses: Dream Songs & Tangos: one woman’s journey from Sài Gòn to Buenos Aires via America” is a multi-media fusion of dance, storytelling, original poetry, visual artwork and song with musical accompaniment on the piano and guitar.
